- $1.74 billion in lost business output and $1.61 billion in lost labor income each year due to inadequate child care access—more than double the estimated impact in 2020. This lost labor equated to over 6,800 jobs lost across Nebraska’s economy as a result of child care–related workforce disruptions.
- Center-based child care costs averaging $9,000–$15,000 per child annually, creating significant financial strain for families.
- The report calls for stronger data infrastructure to better identify gaps, measure progress, and guide evidence-based policymaking.
