Nebraska is a national and global leader in agriculture. One in four jobs are tied to farming and ranching. Biotechnology, value-added agriculture – including renewable fuels, automation, ecommoditization and international trade present the greatest opportunities for growth. The state’s agribusiness cluster (ag-tech, food manufacturing and machinery industries) is highly sophisticated, efficient and well-positioned to help meet evolving agricultural demand.

Nebraskans ranked agriculture as a top economic priority in the Blueprint Nebraska public input process. As a result, the plan promotes aggressive initiatives to accelerate diversification, new technologies, marketing and research to respond to 21st-Century demand and markets. The Nebraska Chamber is partnering with Blueprint Nebraska to build partnerships that:
  • Develop agricultural production and processing industries.
  • Promote education, incentives and partnerships in research in efficiency, water use,    digital agriculture and new value-added products.
  • Build broadband connectivity and automation potential.
  • Invest in a sectorwide data network to support client, consumer and policymaker decision-making.
